Kay George is a Cook Islands based visual mixed media artist currently living in Auckland and selling her textiles out of Buana Satu, Karangahape Rd.
She works across the mediums of photography, painting and textiles, including silk, and in the past has drawn inspiration from her home in Rarotonga, a vibrant South Pacific island of the Cook Islands. Kay's work, along with fellow artist and husband Ian George, is aslo available at the BCA Gallery in downtown Avarua, Rarotonga.
In Auckland Kay is enjoying access to an expanded range of materials and is creating a new range of artwork that is drawing on Auckland's urban landscape as observed through the eyes of an outsider.
A self-taught artist for many years, Kay was awarded a Cook Island government scholarship in 2008 to study extramurally and graduated with a Master of Art & Design degree from Auckland University of Technology in 2010.
