I have been working in the film industry for 12 years primarily in the areas of exhibition, marketing & PR and distribution.

In November [2016] I will present a second edition of BEYOND NOLLYWOOD as part of the BLACK STAR season at the BFI Southbank in the Autumn. BEYOND NOLLYWOOD is a 3-day programme of international Nigerian Cinema showcasing a new crop of filmmaker who are revolutionising the industry - beyond Nollywood. From arthouse to documentary, animation and experimental films; Beyond Nollywood takes inspiration from my book The Nigerian Filmmaker's Guide to Success: Beyond Nollywood.

From September onwards I will deliver regular African Heritage tours at the V&A Europe 1600-1815 Galleries. The 60-minute tour will offer stories and personal interpretations about the African presence in Europe during the 17th and 18th centuries. All tours are free and family friendly.

Earlier this year I delivered a one day workshop titled NO-ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR FILM: A GRASSROOTS APPROACH TO MARKETING, FESTIVALS AND DISTRIBUTION at the BFI Southbank. I also wrote a piece about the various Africa wide film industries for AFRICAN BUSINESS.

I formally entered the industry in 2004 when I established and co-ordinated Black Filmmaker (bfm) Film Club, a monthly platform for Black World Cinema at the Institute of Contemporary Arts managing it until 2010. bfm was the largest and longest running platform for black world cinema in the UK. In 2008 I directed the 10th Anniversary bfm International Film Festival (IFF). The festival launch, held at the Mayor of London's City Hall saw Spike Lee in attendance. For the first time in bfm history, the festival opened at the BFI (British Film Institute) Southbank. In 2009 I directed the 11th bfm IFF, the most successful bfm event ever.

In Sept 2014 I completed my second book The Nigerian Filmmaker's Guide to Success. The guide is the first book to take an overview of the industry, looking beyond Nollywood and encompassing genres such as documentary, animation and Nigerian diaspora films. It lays out the framework for the future of the Nigerian film industry. It was officlally launched at the BFI Southbank as part of the BEYOND NOLLYWOOD programme.

In 2011 I wrote my first book The Black British Filmmaker's Guide to Success: Finance Market and Distribute Your Film. The book, which is the first of its kind internationally, contains extensive good practice interviews with key filmmakers and decision makers in the industry.

I have spoken at events which include The Battle of Ideas Festival, Houses of Parliament (Africa All Party Parliamentary Group), Nigerian Television Authority (Lagos), the Crossover Summit, Sheffield Doc Fest; BFI Talent Net.work Wales; University of the Arts; Black Cultural Archives FilmFest Soul Salon; Africa Technology Network and Sunday Service. Other speaking engagements have included June Givanni's MOVEMENTS roundtable on Pan-African Cinema and Negritude (2014); Afropea Now! Austria (2014); Sheffield Doc Fest (2014 & 2011); Institute Francais programme, Cannes Film Festival (2013) and Judge Business School Cambridge (2014).

I have marketed the release of the multi-award winning films such as Timbutu, The Supreme Price and Viva Riva! Festivals that I have managed the Marketing& PR campaigns for include Film Africa, Brazilian Film Festival of London and the Islington Black History Month Programme.

I have been featured on CNN's Inside Africa programme and BBC London News. I have also spoken on BBC World Service, BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio London. Publications that have featured my work include The Nigerian Watch, the French Women's Magazine Amina and Austrian Daily Der Standard.

As part of the 2010/2011 Skillset funded Guiding Lights scheme I was mentored by Eddie Berg, the then Artistic Director of the BFI Southbank.

I grew up in a Jamaican household in the UK. I studied Modern History at St. Hilda's College, Oxford graduating in 2000. I also hold qualifications in Black and White Photography and Life Coaching. I am a member of BAFTA.

When not busy with film projects I work in the City.
