Rachel Kiwanuka was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma; U.S.A. She is the youngest girl in the family of four children. Rachel was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma till 1997 when she moved to Los Angeles, California. She was born with the natural talent for singing and dancing. At the age of 7 years old her first song that set off her voice talent was Whitney Houston's hit "I'll Always Love You." She sang that song so well her mom, Halima Namakula, immediately put her in a music school to improve her voice more. Rachel auditioned for American Idol in 2005, she didn't make it, but that didn't stop her from achieving her dreams. "It was a great experience and it only made me work harder and realized that there are other ways to make it successfully." Quotes Rachel. In February of 2006 she moved to Kampala, Uganda to focus on her future as a student and an artist.
 



AS A TV Presenter:
 



Rachel Kay started off as a TV presenter for Top 8 Videos in Los Angeles, California with her brother Hemdee. Rachel since then came to Uganda and continued presenting on the popular music show, Jam Agenda on WBS. Rachel's popularity grew and she is today's best TV presenter according to the Teeniez Buzz Awards where she won best TV personality 2 years in a row. 


 



AS AN MC:
 



Rachel Kay was chosen by the British Council to host and mc the WAPI event that is held once a month at the Hotel Africana People's Space where young talent is exposed through words and pictures. She was also chosen to mc the Arapapa fashion week hosting the young children. 


 



Choreographer/Dancer:
 



She is one of East Africa's best dancers from contemporary African to hip hop, Rachel has got it! She teaches dance at the Hotel Africana and offers private lessons in dance. Rachel choreographs Halima Namakula's dancers for every show performance and has been dancing for 11 years. 


 



AS AN Actress: 
 



Rachel has appeared in many school plays in High school in the USA and has played a role in musical Ugandan play, Dawn of the Pearl, at the National Theatre, starring Halima Namakula and Annet Nandujja. 


 



AS A Singer: 
 



Rachel has been singing since the age of eight. She has grown into East Africa's R&B sensation from her first single, Everytime, which had major airplay on MTVBase and a new single I Love the Way. 


 



She has performed in so many concerts but mostly at the corporate functions such Shell end of the year party 2007, SHERATON HOTEL valentine's party, British Council Business forum, CHOGM 2007 people's space and at the weddings. Rachel has finished her debut album titled, "FUSION", with the hot new single, Unaniumiza featuring Radio and Weasel. Rachel's music has travelled all over East Africa, especially Kenya where she recently performed opening up for P-Square.
