Soweto born Rapulana Seiphemo is one of South Africa's most popular actors whose fame dates back to the late eighties when he played the lead in the play My Children My Africa, written and directed by the acclaimed South African playwright Athol Fugard. He started acting at University. He studied theatre in the United States in the early nineties, and worked as a theatre teacher on his return to South Africa.
In 2001 Seiphemo acted in the play The Blacks at Stockholms Stadsteater - a collaboration between the Swedish theatre and the Johannesburg based Market Theatre productions that have toured Europe and America. Rapulana Seiphemo alternates between the stage, TV and the big screen. He has played leading roles in South Africa's most popular soaps Isidingo, Generations and Muvhango, and in celebrated films like Hijack Stories (Oliver Schmitz), Jerusalema (directed by Ralph Ziman, as Lucky Kunene adult) and White Wedding (Jann Turner). Other films that feature Seiphemo are Tsotsi (as the husband) and A Reasonable Man by Gavin Hood, God is African (Akin Omotoso) and How to steal two million (as Twala) directed by Charlie Vundla premiered at Durban 2011. Stepping Stone Pictures, the production company co-owned by Seiphemo, Kenneth Nkosi and Jann Turner, is the company behind White Wedding (South Africa's official submission for the Oscars 2010) and Paradise Stop.
Rapulana is one of the creators of SABC TV's MZANSI.

Soweto-födde Rapulana Seiphemo är en av Sydafrikas mest välkända skådespelare. Genombrottet kom 1989 när han spelade huvudrollen i My Children My Africa, en pjäs skriven och regisserad av dramatikern Athol Fugard. Seiphemo studerade teater i USA i början av 90-talet och åter i Sydafrika arbetade han som teaterlärare.

2001 spelade Seiphemo i pjäsen The Blacks vid Stockholms Stadsteater i ett samarbete mellan Stadsteatern och Johannesburg-baserade Market Theatre. Seiphemo varvar skådespelaruppdrag för teater och tv med filmroller. Han har spelat huvudroller i tre av landets mest populära såpoperor, Isidingo, Generations och Muvhango och i uppmärksammade filmer som Hijack Stories, Jerusalema, White Wedding, Tsotsi, A Reasonable Man, God is African och How to steal two million.

Seiphemo driver tillsammans med Kenneth Nkosi och Jann Turner produktionsbolaget Stepping Stone Pictures som har gjort filmerna White Wedding (Sydafrikas Oscarsbidrag i fjol) och Paradise Stop.
