Salum Zabury is born in Dar es Salaam in 1982. His father is the distinguished Tingatinga painter Zabury Chimwanda who was one of the grounders of the Tingatinga Cooperative. Zabury was taught to paint by Paulo Ngwila. Surprisingly Paulo Ngwila is not a Tanzanian but a Malawian, now living and painting in Italy. Zabury has 2 brothers and one sister. Both brothers are painters too - Zachi Chimwanda and Rajabu Chimwanda. (He is signing as Roger). Zabury´s special theme are Masai people. He is single and lives in Msasani.

With the support of
