Sue ANIQUE is an international singer/songwriter based in Kampala, Uganda. ANIQUE's music is like "Luwombo" – a sumptuous, organic meal, cooked slowly in a traditional banana-leaf-pressure-cooker. Just like your grand mamma's chicken soup, her music is healing and wholesome; emotion-filled with a timeless quality.

Recording her first solo album, ANIQUE's current project involves research into traditional Ugandan Music- experimenting with fusing African rhythms, stories and ideas into her rather eclectic style that blends standard jazz sounds with a truly Ugandan flavor.

As a Songwriter, her process is usually conceptual-often starting with an idea or topic and then giving it a chance to grow up slowly, building organically into a personal philosophy. "Once a concept, is fully grown, musical sounds that fit the texture, shape and color of my philosophy begin to come to me unbidden…It's fun to sometimes take what started as a fragment or just a funny noise I woke up with in my head and to see it transformed into a studio product."

ANIQUE, (a name meaning "God has put His favor on me"), was born Susanne Aniku. She started out as a classical music singer studying voice under British missionary, Janice Hobday. Legend had it that this teacher could break a glass with her powerful soprano voice. Laughing, ANIQUE recounts that it was this ambition which led her to develop and explore her voice – "I discovered that I had a warm, mellow, mid-soprano voice which was able to communicate emotion and meaning to my audiences .I didn't want to break glass, I wanted to heal people."

Before going solo in 2012, ANIQUE served as lead vocalist in various notable Ugandan music outfits, including the world-renowned Watoto Children's Choir (2003) & Qwela Music (2009-2010). She has also shared stages with prominent International musicians. She recorded a collaborative piece with Burundian world music artist Jean Paul Samputu in 2002 and performed with Austrian soul sensation Lylit at the Bayimba International Arts Festival in 2012.

ANIQUE is passionately committed to absolute excellence in all she does. She is an extremely expressive performer who captivates her audiences with charged and emotive live performances
