FILM FESTIVAL MISSION
The Gary International Black Film Festival uses film as a catalyst for positive cultural activity to enhance the'cultural capital' of our hometown of Gary, IN. The mission of the festival is to celebrate black culture through film and discussion. It is our goal to bring films of the highest quality that are not seen at the local multiplex that reflect the depth and transcendence of black people.

Visibility for your company will be high among a diverse cross section of Gary and Lake County residents. The festival offers three days of exposure to thoughtful audiences who carry the experience of the festival into the greater community dialogue. Collateral and marketing materials are high quality, high impact pieces that traditionally have a shelf life long past the festival. Collaterals will be strategically distributed throughout Lake County to provide the greatest visibility possible.

TICKETS
The Gary International Black Film Festival is a three day celebration of independent film featuring stories by or about black people. Screenings include feature length narrative (comedy/drama), documentary, experimental and short films coupled with relevant discussion and opportunities to meet emerging and established filmmakers. Each screening includes a feature length film preceded by selected shorts. Discounts for groups and Festival Partners

FILM FESTIVAL PRIORITIES
-Foster intellectual and genuine discussion on Black culture using films that provide a counterbalance for widely distributed misaligned representation of our heritage and contributions to American and global society.

-Provide a safe and sincere space for building cross-cultural competency; openly discussing our similarities and differences in a guided conversation, honoring and respecting differing opinions.

-Provide media literacy opportunities for youth and adults through the encouragement of the use of film as a form of self-expression.

-Enhance community storytelling in small and large community settings.

-Provide a supportive and collaborative climate to serve as a catalyst for social change, addressing the root causes of that which both divides and binds us.

The festival is run by a committed core of community volunteers that work year-round to review and select film content, solicit in-kind and cash support for festival expenses, recruit volunteers and build awareness and support for a successful festival event.

Support for the program is provided through box office revenues, grant awards, sponsorships and individual donations. Contributions to the festival are received through the festival's fiscal sponsor, Fractured Atlas a designated 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
