Junaid Jemal Sendi, from Ethiopia, was the first African dancer to take part in the prestigious Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative programme, in 2004.

That gave him the opportunity to work with the renowned Japanese choreographer Saburo Teshigawara and his company, KARAS. Sendi has performed on many stages around the world.
