On Wednesday 11 December HRH Prince Constantijn will present the Principal Prince Claus Award posthumously to Ahmed Fouad Negm in the Royal Palace in Amsterdam.

The ceremony can be viewed live at 16:00 (GMT +1:00) via the Prince Claus Fund's Youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/princeclausfund. It is the first time that an event will be live streamed from the Palace.

At the request of Ahmed Fouad Negm's family, close friend and translator of Negm's poems Mona Anis, will receive the Principal Prince Claus Award on his behalf. Mona Anis is the translator of the publication I Say My Words Out Loud, which the Prince Claus Fund will release on the occasion of the Prince Claus Awards Ceremony. The Arabic/English collection of poems will be available on the Prince Claus Fund website after the ceremony. Anis will read the poem that Negm intended to recite for the occasion.

The Awards

The Prince Claus Awards are presented annually to individuals and organisations in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean for their outstanding achievements in the field of culture and development and the positive effect of their work on their direct environment and the wider cultural or social field.
