Le film Je ne suis pas votre Nègre (I am not your Negro), réalisé par Raoul Peck, produit par Rémi Grellety, Raoul Peck et Hébert Peck est nominé aux Oscar 2017 dans la catégorie Meilleur Film Documentaire (Documentary Feature). Le film est une production française, coproduit avec les Etats-Unis, la Belgique et la Suisse.
 
"Je suis reconnaissant et heureux d'être nominé pour Je ne suis pas votre Nègre. Tous nos partenaires et toute l'équipe se joignent à moi pour remercier les membres de l'Académie qui ont participé au vote. Nous n'aurions pas pu faire le film sans la bienveillance et la patience du James Baldwin Estate, et en particulier de Gloria Karefa-Smart, la soeur de James Baldwin. Je tiens à féliciter les autres nominés qui ont fait des films incroyables, la plupart sont des amis", a déclaré le cinéaste haïtien Raoul Peck.
Arte France, ITVS - Independent Lens (Etats-Unis) sont les deux partenaires principaux du film produit par Velvet Film (France, Etats-Unis), en coproduction avec Artémis Productions (Belgique) et Close Up Films (Suisse), la RTS (Radio Télévision Suisse), la RTBF et Shelter Prod.
Le film sortira en salles aux Etats-Unis le 3 février (Magnolia Pictures, Amazon Studio) et sera télédiffusé en France par ARTE dans les prochains mois. Il a été vendu par Wide House dans une trentaine de territoires à ce jour.

Le réalisateur franco-algérien Sélim Azzazi est officiellement nominé pour son court métrage Ennemis Intérieurs (France, fiction, 27 min, Drame) qui nous plonge dans les années 90, avec le terrorisme algérien s'invitant en France, où s'affrontent deux hommes, deux mémoires, deux identités. Produit par Qualia Films, le film est porté par Hassam Ghancy, Najib Oudghiri et Stéphane Perrichon, les acteurs principaux. La 89ème cérémonie des Oscars aura lieu le dimanche 26 février 2017 (pendant le 25ème Fespaco).
