THE FESTIVAL AND ENTRY INFORMATION

Vilole Images Production wishes to take this opportunity to resound the regeneration of the film festival in Zambia. The View Images Film Festival (VIFF) formerly known as the International Film Festival of Zambia (IFFoZ) was rejuvenated in 2009 and was celebrated alongside the Peace One Day, an international peace day that falls on September 21st according to the United Nations' calendar.

On this day Zambia joined 192 UN countries in carrying fourth the message of peace. For 2010, the festival will be held starting the evening of Saturday, 18th September through to Saturday, 25th September 2010 in Lusaka and brings alongside exciting, educating and entertaining activities.

The vision of VIFF is to establish a permanent body of filmmakers and other expert hands who will annually organize the hosting of the film festival thus ensuring the growth, development and improved trade in film and television products in and of Zambia.

The 2010, VIFF, theme is "Shout hard! Scream aloud! Turn around! Inspire someone". With the inhuman activities going on around the world and Africa, VIFF would like to take the opportunity and bring to its audience movies that matter.

This would also help drive local filmmakers to address local issues in a more creative and dramatic way through video/film as the industry develops.

Having granted an opportunity to host 2009 Peace Day, VIFF will embrace 21st September by joining other UN member states in celebrating the 2010 Peace Day.

Within these days we are planning on training workshops, a filmmaker's and partner's conference/forum, public film-screenings that include community screenings and a children's fun day as a community outreach component.

VIFF and Partners will continue to enhance skills, appreciate, celebrate and promote/exhibit the talent and accomplishments of the film industry with all the integrity and credibility possible.

Over the past few years the Zambian Film industry has developed keen interest in local products that despite lack of financial support, independent Producers have taken an inspiring spirit of producing local products with very low or no budgets.

This is an excellent gesture that deserves support from both private sector and government if the industry has to flourish in years to come.

As much as VIFF appreciates and looks forward to screening films from every nation, VIFF is confident that at this year's festival, at least more than 5 Zambian films would be screened.

Through screening of films and documentaries from various backgrounds and nationalities rich information is passed on.

The choice of theme, "Shout hard! Scream aloud! Turn around! Inspire someone!"" for the year 2010 is to remind ourselves on how vital it is for us as human beings to embrace social and economic issues and motivate someone.

Zambia is a very blessed peaceful country, we hope through screenings of such films from other nations, our audience and participants will see through the camera eye the social and economic really issues.
