Superjam began in 1982 featuring the clash of the big uptown bands then - Third World and Chalice. Called Reggae Superjam in the early years, the event went on to become one of the great concert series featuring Jamaican music. The event saw such success that it was transformed from a one night show to a three day festival.

The Superjam line-up over the years is a virtual who's who of Jamaican music and includes Dennis Brown, Steel Pulse, Black Uhuru, The Skatalites, Third World, Gregory Isaacs, Chaka Demus & Pliers, Shaggy, Sean Paul, Bounty Killer, Buju Banton, Damian Marley, Beenieman and Beres Hammond, all at the top of their game. It was at Superjam in 1983 that Peter Tosh performed his last ever concert, at the peak of his career
