TO THE FOREST OF CLOUDS. 31 Oct 18:00.
It's departure time. Eight- year-old Timothée the little half-blood, is getting ready to take the plane to Africa… Although on his mother's side the family is from this continent, he knows it only through tales of witches and elephants. He travels there with his 31-year-old mother Aya. She's taking him with her to Ivory Coast despite the ongoing war because she wants to visit her father's grave and reestablish contact with her family.

BIG FISH DOCUMENTARY SHORTS. 01 Nov 18:00
DIRECTORS: Roelien Magerman, Reshoketjwe Joyce Nkgapele, S'phiwo Mazibuko, Lauren Groenewald, Reshoketjwe Joyce Nkgapele

WULU. 01 Nov 20:00
A poor, young man in Mali tries to raise his standard of living by going into drug trafficking, but gets further involved in the underworld as his lifestyle improves.

BLACK GIRL. 02 Nov 18:00
BLACK GIRL…… by Ousmane Sembène explores the complex dynamics of the immediate post-colonial period through the simple, devastating story of a Senegalese servant, Diouana (Mbissine Thérèse Diop), brought to Antibes by a French couple (Anne Marie Jelinek and Robert Fontaine) previously stationed in Dakar. Under the mistaken assumption that she has been employed as a governess for the couple's children, Diouana quickly learns that she must do the cooking, laundry, cleaning, and babysitting. The film progressively delineates the particular dimensions of Diouana's subordinate position. Her objectification both as a woman and as African is further dramatized, and her inability to speak for herself is, in Sembène's terms, the crux of her cultural subordination. It's the mark of French dominance over the African.

THE PEARL OF AFRICA. 02 Nov 20:00
The Pearl of Africa is a story about Cleopatra Kambugu, a 28 year old Ugandan transgender girl. Biologically born male, but against all odds, transitioning into the woman she knows she was born to be. An intimate fight for love, in one of the most transphobic places in the world. Forced to leave her country and loving boyfriend behind. She sets out to fight for her right to love, and against all odds, to become the first accepted trans person in Uganda

KEMTIYU, CHEIKH ANTA. 03 Nov 18:00
"The Universal Man", "The Giant of Knowledge", "The Last Pharaoh", these were the headlines, the day after his death on February 7, 1986. Thirty years later, KEMTIYU paints a portrait of Cheikh Anta Diop, a trail-blazing scholar with an insatiable thirst for science and knowledge as well as an honest, enlightened political figure, venerated by some, decried by others, and unknown to most. This film tells the story of a man who fought his whole life for truth and justice in order to restore historical awareness and dignity to Africa.

AFRICAN SHORTS PACKAGE. 04 Nov 16:00
DIRECTORS: KARIM BOUKHARI, AZIM MOOLLAN, OMAR BELKACEMI, LAMOHANG JEREMIAH MOSESE, SITRAKA RAUNDRIAMAHALY, FABIEN DAO, TAMI RAVID, MOUNA NANJI, NG'ENDO MUKII.

HISSEIN HABRE', A CHADIAN TRAGEDY. 04 Nov 18:30
Hissène Habré, Chad president from 1982 to 1990, is to be judged for his crimes in 2015. Victims have been seeking to bring him to justice for 23 years.

CLASH. 04 Nov 20:30
Cairo, summer of 2013 - Two years after the Egyptian revolution. In the wake of the ouster of Islamist president Morsi, a police truck full of detained demonstrators of divergent political and religious backgrounds roams through violent protests. Can the detainees overcome their differences to stand a chance of survival?

THE UNSEEN. 05 Nov 14:00
Unfolding more like a conversation than a narrative, The Unseen follows the story of three wandering souls as they navigate the emotional and physical realities of post-colonial Namibia. First there is Marcus, an African American actor tasked with portraying one of Namibia s historical leaders. Seeking authenticity in his craft, he embarks on an earnest research mission to unveil the true history of his character. Then there is Anu, a talented local musician who is having trouble negotiating between his influences and identity. Lastly, there is Sara, a depressed young woman uncertain of whether or not her environment provides anything worth living for.
It's a collection of philosophical musings on what it means to be alive in independent Namibia. It intentionally blurs the line between fiction and documentary.

MARIJA. 05 Nov 16:00
Marija, a young Ukrainian woman, earns her living as a hotel maid in Dortmund (Germany), but dreams of owning her own hair salon. She puts money aside each month but when she is fired without notice, her dream seems out of reach. Without work and under financial pressure, she finds herself forced to look for other opportunities. In her determination to reach her goal she sacrifices her body, her social relationships and her own feelings.
Michael Koch's feature film debut is the portrait of a young woman who lives on the periphery of our production- and consumer-oriented society, but does not accept the ascribed role of the victim. Demanding, determined and uncompromising, she fights to live a freer, self-determined life.

WE HAVE NEVER BEEN KIDS. 05 Nov 18:15
She is trying to look after her children, especially in the lead-up to and aftermath of her divorce. The film opens a thorny file in Arab world & Middle East like: Woman, Politics & Why the young men in that region are trying to find a way to join ISIS.
