QAFF was born in Colombia in response to a pressing need among Afro-descendants to see content from their home continent.

THE QAFF
The Quibdó Africa Film Festival invites us to explore this symbolic space of encounter between Africa and its Diaspora through film screenings, workshops, conferences and artistic exhibitions in an adventure towards the unknown, in a journey oscillating between past, present and future towards a place that is both memory and representation; a place that invites us to see what we have been and what we have managed to be.

JUSTIFICATION
The Quibdó Africa Film Festival is the moment for the community to turn its daily life into a narrative. The African diaspora in Colombia needs its own narrative, a new narrative of who we are and what we are. We are narrative beings. Our past, present and future lives are narratives. In the same way that we are oppressed by narratives, in the same way we are liberated by narratives. This festival is the moment for the Afro-descendant community to turn their daily lives into narratives.

GOAL
For some reason that we still do not know, we find in the history of humanity that aspect marked in the discrimination either by skin color or gender, we simply do not know and submit in a brutal way to ourselves, given this our goal is clearly to increase the audience of films by African and Afro-descendant directors and their dissemination in Colombia. To make visible stories written, directed and produced by African and Afro-descendant directors. Respond to a growing demand for content "made in Africa and by Afro-descendant directors" by Afro-descendant audiences. To concretize the participation of producers, national directors, international directors and communicators in the programming of the Quibdó Africa Film Festival. To guarantee the publicity and diffusion of the Quibdó Africa Film Festival through the different media.
It is now when through this work we show that culture as part of the history and wonderful mixture of Colombia.
