Our goal is to open to all forms of choreographic expression of the continent, but also the rest of the world. his event is a major challenge but also a great opportunity for the country to show its cultural role, and for the African region as a whole.

Due to its multicultural character, its desire to bring to life the African heritage and its inclusion in the present, Ouagadougou International Dance Festival (OIDF) intends to return to the dance for varied expression. The festival is thought as a meeting space, creation, transmission, sharing and mixing of cultures, forms and techniques in the field of dance.

OIDF is a place of initiation for the spectators, choreographers and dancers. It will also boost artistic circulation by creating a new diffusion dynamic, which will ultimately contribute to the development of African creations on the world stage. In this respect, the OIDF will provide the ideal framework for partnerships between actors in the cultural development in Africa and outside the continent and will develop an additional axis of cultural and artistic cooperation. In short, Ouagadougou International Dance Festival will open new horizons and contribute to the vitality of dance and music internationally. Many dancers from EDIT, the Ecole de Danse Irène Tassembédo, have used the opportunity of this festival to find residencies in dance companies to work on their performances and diversify their technics surrounded by professionals.
