This compelling documentary chronicles the remarkable story of the Liberian women who joined together to end a long civil war, armed only with their white T-shirts and the courage of their convictions. Thousands of women - ordinary mothers, grandmothers, aunts and daughters, both Christian and Muslim - organised prayers for peace and staged non-violent protests when negotiations between rebel forces and Charles Taylor's regime were close to collapse in 2003. Their actions were a critical element in bringing about the agreement that led to Taylor's exit, the end of the war, and the election of president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf as Africa's first female head of state. An extraordinary testimony of how grassroots activism can alter the history of nations.
