Bollywood meets South African cinema in this home-grown heist movie set in Durban's Indian community. Ronnie is a corrupt cop who thinks that he is better than the criminals with whom he does business. Desperate to clean up his act but struggling to get by on his meagre salary, Ronnie meets a cash-in-transit guard who gives him the opportunity to go legit by doing one last job - which turns out to be the biggest cash heist in South African history.
31 Millions Reasons was inspired by a massive heist that took place in 1997 and for which 14 people were convicted.
But urban legend has it that there was far more money at the deposit facility than was ever made public.

The film stars Jack Devnarain - who was previously a reallife policeman before he turned to acting and who will be familiar to viewers of the popular local soap opera Isidingo - as well as Meren Reddy, Hamish Kyd and Afzal Khan.
