Nour e Iyad sono una coppia di palestinesi che vive a Gerusalemme Est ed è in procinto di emigrare a Parigi. Lui è un chirurgo di mezza età, lei una giovane attrice seducente, indipendente, capricciosa, discendente dalla borghesia intellettuale palestinese. Sulla strada per l'aeroporto, la notizia di un terribile incidente richiama Iyad all'ospedale. La partenza è quindi sospesa. Trascurata dal marito per l'ennesima volta, Nour rimetterà in discussione questo viaggio come pure la loro relazione, dando prova del proprio affetto a coloro che si appresta a lasciare.

Nour und Iyad - ein palästinensisches Paar, das in Ostjerusalem lebt - planen, nach Paris auszuwandern. Er ist Chirurg und in den besten Jahren - sie ist eine junge Schauspielerin, attraktiv, unabhängig, geistreich und stammt ursprünglich aus der intellektuellen Oberschicht Palästinas. Auf dem Weg zum Flughafen ruft die Nachricht eines schrecklichen Unglücks Iyad zurück ins Krankenhaus, und ihre Abreise verschiebt sich. Nour, die sich einmal mehr von ihrem Mann im Stich gelassen fühlt, stellt nicht nur ihre Reise, sondern auch ihre Beziehung in Frage - während sie gleichzeitig ihre enge Verbundenheit zu jenen unterstreicht, die sie zurücklässt.
