While MBABAZI tries unsuccessfully to shoot a film about a character called COLONEL who spends evenings in the groceries of Geneva, talking about his glorious past as a liberator in colonial and post colonial Africa, the film emerges when he meets non actors who inhabit the characters he has written and shape them to their own personality.

Philbert Mbabazi is failing to talk to "the old people" about colonisation. This is when he meets an individual in Geneva who claims to be the son of Marshal Mobutu and has himself filmed clad in an African mask. There begins a game of role-playing and truculent palavers worthy of the novels of Ahmadou Kourouma, which transforms "the age of independences" into an uncertain legend embodied by fictional characters.

Philbert Mbabazi gelingt es nicht, mit den "Alten" über die Kolonialzeit zu reden. Dann lernte er in Genf eine Person kennen, die vorgab, ein Sohn von Marschall Mobutu zu sein und sich in einer afrikanischen Maske filmen lässt. Daraus entsteht ein einzigartiges Rollen- und Wortspiel, das den Romanen eines Amadou Kuruma entstammen könnte, der die "Ära der Unabhängigkeiten" in eine ungewisse, durch erfundene Figuren verkörperte Legende verwandelt.
