Testimonies … "waa suñu gaal" is a reference to the origins of Senegal's name, and that means "our canoe". "Waa" means people. So the title could also be translated as Testimonies of the People of Our Canoe. The documentary completes Témoignages de l'autre côté (Testimonies from the Other Side), a documentary about Senegalese immigration in Spain. Using water, a space for dreams and hopes, as a leitmotif, the experience of immigration in Spain is told this time by a Senegalese woman who has returned and by several artists via their cultural spheres, such as theater, painting or a rapped newscast.
