Fruits of Defiance focuses on events in the 1989 defiance campaign from the perspective of people living in the Mannenburg area on the Cape Flats. Footage of the Women's March, the Purple Rain March and the events of the last Tri-Cameral election, which left 23 dead in the Western Cape. The film is brilliantly crafted to juxtapose people's anger as a result of the killing and culminates into mass celebration and victory on FW De Klerk's concession to allow the first legal protest in Cape Town's City centre for 30 years. Included are public statements by amongst others, Zoli Malindi, Hilde Ndude, Allan Boesak, Desmond Tutu, Cheryl Corolus, Dullah Omar, Murphy Morobe and Jay Naidoo.
