"Lens, northern France. Chaylla, 23 years old, fights to free herself from an abusive marital relationship. However, her determination is confronted by a part of her that still hopes to make a life with the father of her children. And if Chaylla, with her head held high, decides to lodge a complaint and to take back her rights in the face of society and the patriarchy in which she has no confidence, it is also thanks to the support of a duo of women - her mother-in-law and her best friend - who accompany her every day. It is with them that she shares her sorrows and passions, that she swallows her tears, smiles gently or sings at the top of her voice. The camera, always close to her face, magnifies its strength, while the expressiveness and magnetism of the close-ups evoke that of Renée Falconetti. Clara Teper and Paul Pirritano have made a splendid first feature film that sheds light on violence against women and the difficulties of finding one's own way to justice. A social drama crossed by the extreme humanity and sincerity of a woman, Chaylla."
