In a lost oasis in the Sahara desert over 430 miles from Algiers, Moussa, disabled from birth, lives poorly with his sister Zineh. They are trying to rebuild the family unit destroyed by the war. Family is the dream of the wonderful childhood period, when parents took on all responsibilities. Zineh goes to work every day at the dates-packaging factory in the closest village and feels compelled to sacrifice herself for her brother. She doesn't feel ready to face the world marriage would entail. Moussa is completely independent even though he doesn't have arms. He contributes to the housework and the village life and tries to forget his problems by trying to grow flowers in the desert.
