One day my friend said to me: "I'd like to take you to my homeland, Aymara, in northern Chili, a land squeezed between the Andes and the Pacific."
In his exile, he taught me his origin and his history. A few months later, we left springtime France for the glaciers of Parinacota and the desert of Atacama. An 3,100-mile dream from the Peruvian-Bolivian border to Valparaiso. It's the land of all conquerors. From the Quechua Incas to the Aymara and Atacamene resistance. From the conquistadors to the independence. From the sacrifice of Allende to the dictatorship of Pinochet. Who are you, my Chilean friend? You dream of flying away like a condor and before dying you will look as he looked at this long pedal of sea, wine and snow about which Pablo Neruda spoke and you will whisper: "I am of this earth." I filmed his country as I loved it. With him, I brought you back the faces and looks of those who inhabit one of the most beautiful countries in the world: his country.
