When Israeli forces raided the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank in 2002, Palestinian director and actor Mohammed Bakri was there to make Jenin… Jenin (2002), a very telling and bold film about the destruction of human lives and buildings by the Israeli army and its bulldozers. This new documentary traces the extraordinary backlash against Jenin… Jenin. Many Israelis considered Bakri an Arab traitor for making the film (he lives inside Israel) and he only succeeded in getting it screened after a long legal battle, which left a deep scar in his beliefs. He now uses his camera so that his accusers become the accused, and delivers an intensely personal film that shows how far an artist will go to fight the odds and the military for what he believes in.
