The dodo is a cultural event that the Mossi from Burkina Faso inherited, since the last century, from the Hausa of Nigeria. It is similar to a carnival and is celebrated every year, during the month of the Ramadan, in different districts of Ouagadougou. Young people form troupes and dress up like animals such as elephants, lions, or monkeys, then compete in dance contests.
