From the spring of 1998 to the spring of 1999, the exiled filmmaker was invited, a little bit everywhere in France, to come and talk about his films and his country. From city to city, real encounters will take place around the same need to exchange on delicate questions relating to Franco-Algerian history over the last 50 years. An ex-para pied-noir, a harki's daughter, a journalist wounded during an assassination attempt, the filmmaker's Jewish aunts..., each character witnessing an injury, is a ghost operating in the work of mourning, but also a piece of the puzzle of an "imaginary" Algeria whose fragments must be put back together, from which a new identity can be elaborated...
