Made in Chicago, The Making of Barack Obama

Genre : Biography

Format : Feature

50 years ago, the United States were still a nation where black and white citizens did not enjoy the same rights.
The stubborn determination of the Kennedy brothers, followed by Lyndon B. Johnson, finally brought segregation to an end. But it was the political consensus between Democrats and Republicans that turned legal equality into reality, through measures of positive discrimination that had been the principal social foundations from the 1970's until today.
One could therefore say that Barack Obama is a true ‘product' of the United States, the son of America.

This documentary looks at the rise of Barack Obama - an astonishing and "very American" story that led one half of the USA to chose as potential president an African American who was unknown to the general public only four years ago.
We look not just at the exceptional personal and political journey of one man, but at the fundamental changes facing the country's society as a whole.

"Obama, Son of the USA" is an investigation that leads us across America, not just in the footsteps of Barack Obama, but those of all Americans who came to believe in him and identify with him.
