AMREEKA chronicles the trials and tribulations of Muna, a single mother from Palestine who emigrates with her son Fadi to the United States. After making their way through US customs, the two of them join Muna's sister in Illinois. But Muna, who managed to lose all her savings on the way over, desperately needs a job and despite her two degrees and long experience in the banking sector, is forced to settle for a job at a fast food joint. This charmingly made film is a moving account of immigrant life in America.
