The members of Okwess International are among the best musicians of Kinshasa. Their leader, Jupiter Bokondji has created his own musical style 20 years ago, a style he has baptized "Bofenia Rock". In the land of the allmighty "Ndombolo Soukouss" of Koffi Olomide, "Bofenia Rock" stands as a true musical oddity. It reawakens the forgotten melodies and rythms of the Congo's 450 ethnic groups, giving them an inimitable urban spin. The result is a sound that takes us back to the origins of soul and funk... In Kinshasa many young musicians of the ghetto are now following the path of "ol'Jupiter".
