Espoirs de Coronthie (Les)

Genre : Band
Principal country concerned : Column : Music

Not just a simple band, the "Espoirs de Coronthie" have become a real phenomenon in Guinea… Wherever you go, you can hear their music ringing in the air: in coffee shops, clubs, on radios, in the street, and even in taxi cabs … You cannot miss it! With a music based on instruments and sounds from their country (balafon, kora, djembé, bolon, gongoma …), these artists give us an original groove which success is based on the vocal quality of the three singers. A powerful show …. Generous artists …. An infectious energy …. The "Espoirs de Coronthie" show us a dynamic and deeply lively Africa through music and dances.

In nearly 10 years, the group seduced a larger and larger audience not only all over West Africa (Guinea, Mali, Sierra Leone, Congo), but also in Europe during a 26 concerts tour in summer 2007.
A third album, come out on April 2008, recorded at Bamako, in the mytical "Bogolan" studio (Rokia Traoré, Ali Farka Touré …) may cause much comment, if we take in account that 70000 copies of the former album have been already sold.
1st album: "Patriote", come out in 2002, 20 000 copies sold in Guinea. "Gold Djembé" of the 2002 best traditional album "Gold Scene" of the 2002 best band

2nd album: "Dounya igiri", come out in 2004, more than 70 000 copies sold. "Gold Djembé" of the 2004 best traditional album "Gold Scene" of the 2004 best band

Maxi CD 6 titles: "wokhoyi", come out in December 2005, more than 120 000 copies sold.
