AMAA's belief in capacity building has been the reason why AMAA has always supported players in the audiovisual sector to international film festivals like the Berlin, Cannes and Toronto Film Festivals to meet and network with fellow players from the west and garner experience.

AMAA, the continental award scheme for players in the film sector is getting the rest of Africa involved in the initiative not just by submitting to the annual event but creating awareness among filmmakers around the continent. Founded in 2005, AMAA, an offshoot of the African Film Academy, is geared towards research, training, promoting African cultures, encourage professionalism in the movie industry, offer professional development and networking opportunities.
