French nationality.

He was born in in Erevan (Armenia) in 1955. Studied at the Conservatory of Dramatic Arts in Meudon, France, and moved to Paris in 1971. In 1976, founded a theatre company and produced several plays, always working concomitantly with theatre, cinema, especially short-films and as a TV actor. He directed the short films Misters Dames (1997), Terra Emota (1999), Lux Aeterna (1999), Line of Life (2003) and One Fine Morning (2005); the medium-length films Accomplished Mission (1992) and The Fifth Dream (1994); and the feature We Drank the Same Water (2007). His last short film, Barking Island ("Cheinne d'histoire", 2010), won the Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival. He acted in Robert Guédiguian's Armenia and The Army of Crime. He lives in France.
