Keith Shiri (Zimbabwe) is a film curator and founder/director of Africa at the Pictures, a festival of African cinema based in London. He is a programme adviser to the London Film Festival and an advisory board member of the African Movie Academy Awards. He is also a jury member of the Berlinale World Cinema Fund which was set up to provide production and distribution support to projects from Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, South Asia and the Caucasus.
Shiri is an international film curator and founder director of Africa at the Pictures and the London African Film Festival. He is an expert advisor for the EU-ACP programme, for the ACP cinema and audio-visual sectors. He is programme advisor to the London Film Festival, the Cinema Africa Tokyo and also served in that position for the Venice Film Festival.
He was a member of the Berlinale World Cinema Fund from 2004-2007. Shiri has served on a number of festivals including the Berlin International Film Festival, the Dubai International Film Festival, Pan African Film Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO), Tampere Film Festival and many others. He is currently on the advisory board of New York's Focus Features Africa First Programme, which supports and mentors young African filmmakers, and a jury advisor for the annual Africa Movie Academy Awards.
Shiri compiled and edited the Directory of African Films and Filmmakers (Flicks Books 1993), Africa on Film (BBC Publications 1991)Africa at the Pictures (British Film Institute 1991).
Zimbabwean born, world renowned international film curator and writer on African cinema, Keith Shiri, joins The Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF, Lagos) as the Festival's Programmer & Jury Coordinator.
He is founder and director of "Africa at the Pictures" and the "London African Film Festival" and Visiting Research Fellow for "Centre for Research and Education in Arts and Media (CREAM), University of Westminster, London". He is also Programme Advisor to the British Film Institute's, London Film Festival and has also served in that position for the Venice Film Festival. He was a member of the World Cinema Fund from 2004 - 2007 and has been an expert advisor for the EU-ACP Films, curated for the Sharjah Biennale UAE and was the first Executive Director of the Southern African Film Festival.
Mr. Shiri has served as jury member on a number of festivals including the Berlin International Film Festival, the Dubai International Film Festival, Pan African Film Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO), Tampere Film Festival and many others. He is a trainer for the ESODOC programme that offers workshops in documentary filmmaking. He is currently on the advisory board of New York's Focus Features Africa First, a programme that supports and mentors young African filmmakers.
