Leyla BOUZID (Tunis, 1984) moved to Paris in 2003, at 18 years old, to study French literature at the Sorbonne University and then attended La Fémis, the French National Film School, to study directing. She directed Soubresauts (Mkobbi Fi Kobba), her thesis film, in Tunisia, a few months before the revolution. Her graduate short film won the Jury prize in students films category in Premiers Plans (Angers, France) in 2012.
She then chose to direct Zakaria [2013] in the south of France with non-professional actors. These two short films received a very warm welcome in festival in France and abroad.
