Born in Paris (France) in 1975.
French Senegalese Dyana Gaye majored in Film Studies at Paris 8 - St Denis University in 1998. In 1999 she received a Louis Lumière/Villa Médicis extra-mural grant for her script A woman for Souleymane (une femme pour Souleymane) (2000) which she directs the following year. Finalist of the Rolex mentor and Protege Arts initiative in 2004, she directs Remembering Paris (J'ai deux amours), for the project Paris la métisse. In 2006, her film Ousmane (Deweneti) received numerous distinctions all over the world and was nominated at the César 2008 (French Academy award).
In 2009, Saint-Louis Blues (Un Transport en commun) was screened in World Premiere at Locarno Film Festival.
Her Debute Feature Under the Starry Sky (Des étoiles) was Word Premiered in 2013 at Toronto FilmFest (TIFF 2013, Canada).

After receiving the Louis Lumière scholarship in 1999, Dyana Gaye wrote the screenplay for a first short film Une femme pour Souleymane, which she directed the following year. Since then, she has created riveting, award-winning shorts with a recurring focus on aspects of Senegalese culture such as J'ai deux amours (2005), Deweneti (2006) and Un Transport en commun (2009). Dyana Gaye attended Focus on French Cinema - FFC 2015 to present not only her first feature-length film Under the Starry Sky (Des Étoiles) but also a short entitled Un conte de la Goutte d'or, featured in the Talents Adami Cannes 2014 selection. Gaye was also on the jury of Le Festival du Film Francophone d'Angoulême in August 2014 together with Abd Al Malik and Anne Kern.

Dyana Gaye - urodzona w Senegalu, ukończyła studia filmowe w Paryżu na Uniwersytecie St. Denis. W 1999 r. otrzymała stypendium im. Louis Lumière/Villa Médicis na realizację swojego pierwszego filmu krótkometrażowego ?Une femme pour Souleymane" [Kobieta dla Sulejmana] (2000). W 2004 r., została finalistką konkursu finansowanego przez firmę Rolex i wyreżyserowała film pt. ?J'ai deux amours" [Mam dwie miłości], w ramach projektu Paris la métisse. W 2006 r. jej film ?Deweneti" otrzymał liczne nagrody na całym świecie, m.in. był nominowany do francuskiej nagrody filmowej César 2008 w kategorii najlepszy film krótkometrażowy. Wspólna podróż miał swoją premierę światową w 2009 r. na MFF w Locarno.
