Mangane built up his own artistic route according to the people he met… Born in Senegal, he was tought balafon by Bala Dumbia at the Conservatory of Dakar, and guitar by Fadel Ndiaye. Taking its origins in traditional balafon beats, his practice of guitar directed his artistic curiosity to many horizons such as jazz, folk music, blues, latino or pop music… In 1996, the creation of NAKODJE in Dakar was dertermining and enabled him to experiment musical fusions by various musicians. This adventure lasted for 5 years, confronting the band to international stages of Western Africa, Central Africa, Europe… Mangane then settled in Limousin in 2001 and composed. Meetings with various local artists gave birth to MANGUÊO and to the recording of Takkam Takkam in 2005. 2008 marked the end of MANGUÊO with gigs which illustrated Mangane's will to express his own style… Guitar and lead vocal constitute the foundations of his work. A remarkable voice, probably guided by his native culture and nurtured by his experiences abroad. His guitar play gets its own identity, between afro-blues and folk music. His latest album will be released at the autum of 2011 and will be made of great collaborations. He aims at sharing his musical world fed with more than various influences, as his African origins do not delimit his field of exploration. Indeed, Mangane is more interested in the universality of music than in its compartimentalization. A very intimate world to discover…
