Deon is a novelist, scriptwriter and film director. His bestselling books have been translated into 27 languages. He has written the TV series Orion and Transito, the film Jakhalsdans, and wrote and directed Die Laaste Tango (2013).
In 2012, he founded with Diony Kempen, The Karoo Film Company, specialized in the production of feature films in Afrikaans and English, and also supplies cameras and equipment to movie production houses.
