Born in 1953, Alex Gibney, known for his powerful documentaries, is one of the most accomplished non-fiction filmmakers working today. His 2008 film, Taxi to the Dark Side, received an Oscar for Best Feature-Length Documentary, a Best Director nomination from the Director's Guild of America, as well as a Writer's Guild of America Award for Best Screenplay. Alex received another Academy Award nomination in 2006 for ENRON: The Smartest Guys in the Room, which also won the Independent Spirit Award and the WGA Award, and he served as an Executive Producer on the Academy Award-nominated No End in Sight (2007). Finding Fela (2014) is his 26th documentary.

THOMPSON (Magnolia) and WE STEAL SECRETS: THE STORY OF WIKILEAKS (Focus Features); CLIENT 9: THE RISE & FALL OF ELIOT SPITZER (Magnolia) and PARK AVENUE: MONEY, POWER AND THE AMERICAN DREAM, which aired on PBS. CATCHING HELL, produced for ESPN, was nominated for a Sports Emmy for Outstanding Sports Documentary. MEA MAXIMA CULPA: SILENCE IN THE HOUSE OF GOD, was shortlisted for a 2013 Academy Award and won three Primetime 2013 Emmy Awards.

Alex's latest film, THE ARMSTRONG LIE, for Sony Pictures Classics, had its North American debut at the 2013 Toronto Film Festival. He is also currently producing a four-hour documentary about Frank Sinatra for HBO.
