Born in Kenya in 1957, Anne G. Mungai had her professional training at the Kenyan Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC) and the American Cultural Centre in Nairobi, Kenya. She took further skill development courses in film writing and directing in Germany. She also studied at Daystar University, Nairobi, Kenya. She has lectured in film production at KIMC. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in Political communication at Cardiff University, UK. Since her first short film Nkomani Clinic in 1980, she has made numerous documentaries, docu-dramas and feature films receiving many awards at various film festivals. Her filmography includes Saikati (1992), Root 1 (1994), Tough Choices (2000), Promise of Love (2000) and many others. -Seoul Women's Film Festival & Africiné.
