Nujoom Alghanem is a film director and poet from the United Arab Emirates, where she currently lives and works. She was born in Dubai and graduated with an MA in film production from Griffith University in Australia in 1999. In 1996, she earned her BS degree in video production from Ohio University in the US. Alghanem directed several short films, including Ice Cream (1997), The Park (1997) and Between Two Banks (1999), and has directed the feature-length documentaries Almureed (2008), Hamama (2011), Amal (2010), Red, Blue, Yellow (2011) and Sounds of the Sea / Sawt Al Bahar (2014).
