About
Lukas and Salome Augustin are award winning multimedia producers based in Berlin, Germany.

From 2006-2008, Lukas lived with a local family in Afghanistan, learning Dari and volunteered for a Swedish humanitarian aid organization Operation Mercy. After freelancing as a photojournalist and in the film world for several years producing documentaries and short films he returned to Afghanistan in 2011 with his wife Salome. Salome grew up in Tanzania, lived and worked in Burma/Myanmar from 2007 to 2009 also has a background in photography and directing while studying social sciences.

Their trip to Afghanistan resulted in the short film "Afghanistan - Touch Down in Flight". Initially it was featured on the iPad edition of the biggest national newspaper in Germany and later after uploading it to the internet received over 500,000 views within in the first months and garnished media recognition from around the world.

Lukas and Salome continue to access people and their stories in conflict zones and at the fringes of mainstream media coverage. They were one of the first media teams to enter Mogadishu after the war in 2011, reported about conflict minerals in Congo and their feature lengths documentaries brought them to Rwanda and Afghanistan.

Lukas studied Orient and Islamic Studies and Literature at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum was a scholarship holder of the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation and participated int the training program of the Journalisten-Akademie (academy of journalism). Salome studies Social Sciences at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum.

They have both taken courses in film directing and production at the Met-Film School at Ealing Studios of London and at Prague Film School.

Awards:
Jugendfilmpreis (German youth film award, category 18-23 years) the CNN Journalist Award 2013 and nominations for a National Magazine Award 2015 and are nominated for a Grimme Preis for their feature length documentary Unvseröhnt / Unforgiven: Rwanda.
