Camilla NIELSSON is a documentary film director and visual anthropologist.

She is known for DEMOCRATS (2014), PRESIDENT (2020).

Camilla NIELSSON - Born in Copenhagen (Denmark) in 1977.
Camilla Nielsson was a Fulbright Scholar at Tisch School of the Arts, New York University (NYU), and in the Dept. of Anthropology (NYU), where she studied documentary filmmaking and visual anthropology from 1997-2000. She has directed the documentary short trilogy Good Morning Afghanistan (2003), Durga (2004), and The Children of Darfur (2005), about children's rights, and Mumbai Disconnected (2009), in the Cities on Speed series.
Since 2000 she has been working as an independent filmmaker and a media consultant for UNESCO and UNICEF.

Camilla Nielsson's first feature documentary DEMOCRATS (2014), has screened at more than 80 film festivals, and won 20 awards and nominations, including Best Documentary at Tribeca Film Festival 2015, and Best Documentary at Nordic Panorama 2015. In 2021 Camilla was the recipient of the Roos Award, which recognizes an extraordinary contribution to Danish documentary film.

Among others, she has directed a documentary trilogy about children's rights: "Good Morning Afghanistan" (2003), "Durga" (2004) and "The Children of Dafur" (2005).

Instruktør, født 1977. Camilla Nielsson er uddannet dokumentarinstruktør på Tisch School of the Arts og har en Mastergrad i visuel antropologi fra New York University (NYU). Hun har også arbejdet som mediekonsulent for UNICEF og for UNESCO.

Hun har instrueret en trilogi om børnerettigheder "Good Morning Afghanistan" (2003), "Durga" (2004) og "The Children of Darfur" (2005). 2007 begyndte hun samarbejdet med den israelske videokunstner Yael Bartana om "And Europe Will Be Stunned" (2011) og "Demonstrators" (2012), som var en del af Re:Constructed Landscapes (Statens Museum for Kunst/CPH:DOX 2012).

Camilla Nielssons dokumentarfilm "Democrats" (2015) er en film om det politiske magtopgør i forbindelse med udarbejdelsen af en ny forfatning i Zimbabwe.
