Miguel Ángel ROSALES has been steeped in cinema all his life. His father, a projectionist and amateur filmmaker, planted a passion in him early on that would only intensify during his teenage years at the film club of Jerez, where he was born and raised. Music, would be his first form of artistic expression though. He composed hundreds of songs for Fatal Tango, the group he created with Manuel Mateos. A short time later he studied anthropology at the University of Seville. A self-taught filmmaker, he learned the trade by taking several workshops and courses on documentary film before trying his hand at film directing. With his first feature film, Gurumbé. Afro-Andalusian, he unites his two passions: the old one, cinema, and the new one, anthropology.

Biografía Director: MIGUEL ÁNGEL ROSALES
Miguel Ángel Rosales ha convivido desde siempre con el cine. Su padre, proyeccionista y cineasta amateur, le anticipó la pasión que se desataría en su adolescencia en el cine-club popular de Jerez, su ciudad de nacimiento. La música sería su primera forma de expresión artística. Compuso cientos de canciones para Fatal Tango, el grupo que compartió con Manuel Mateos. Poco después, cursaría estudios de Antropología en la Universidad de Sevilla. De vocación autodidacta, realiza varios talleres y cursos de cine documental antes de lanzarse a la dirección cinematográfica. Con su primer largometraje, Gurumbé. Canciones de tu memoria negra, une sus dos pasiones: la antigua, el cine, y la nueva, la antropología.
