French film director and activist.
Christophe Yanuwana PIERRE is a film director and activist. He is known for "Unti : les origines" (2019, documentary), his film debut.
His film documentary won the Jury Special Prize (FIFAC 2019, Saint-Laurent du Maroni, French Guiana), the Découverte Audiovisuelle Prize (Prix SCAM 2020, France) and the Premiers regards Award (19th Festival du prix documentaire d'Albertville-Aoste, 2020, France).
Born in Terre-Rouge (French Guiana), near Saint-Laurent du Maroni, he is very involved against the gold project "la montagne d'or" in French Guiana. He is the spokeperson of The Association Jeunesse Autochtone (Native Youth Association).
