Nejia Ben Mabrouk was born in 1949 in El Oudiane (Tunisia). From 1969 to 1971 he studied French literature. Then he attended a film course at the INSAS in Brussels until 1976 and became assistant director with Belgian television. Legal conflicts with the producer meant that his feature film La Trace was only premièred in 1988, five years after shooting started. Ben Mabrouk has also written several scripts.

Films: Pour vous servir (1978), La Trace (Al-sâma) (1988), Fil al bahti'an Shaïma / Research of Shaïma (1991, short).
