Velvet Films was created in 2011 under the name ED Productions. In 2016 the company was bought up by Sebastian Schelenz, producer and Christophe Jouret, entrepreneur, and Velvet Films was born. In May 2017 André Sommerlatte joined the team as producer.

Velvet Films focalizes on the development and the production of international feature films, as well as the emergence of Belgian filmmakers. Our desire is to work with ambitious partners to craft films with strong subjects and a unique vision. Without wanting to limit itself to a genre, Velvet Films perceives itself as a hub of exchange between talents and cultures, aiming to produce diversified films with high quality content.

Velvet Films credits include the "arty" comedy ME AND KAMINSKI by GOODBYE LENIN director Wolfgang Becker, Joachim Langs' BRECHT'S THREE PENNY MOVIE, a biopic and adaptation of Berthold Brechts' THREE PENNY OPERA, the best selling children film LILIANE SUSEWIND by Joachim Masannek, the satire UNDERGODS by Chino Moya and Bruce Mc Donalds' satirical thriller DREAMLAND.
