DSCHOINT VENTSCHR FILMPRODUKTION develops, produces and markets films on cultural, political and social issues. DSCHOINT VENTSCHR's documentary and feature films are concerned above all with the themes of cross-cultural encounters, changing national identities, and unconventional interpretations of history.

DSCHOINT VENTSCHR productions also make innovative use of film language, constantly searching for new ways of seeing, and making use of the potential of new media and new technologies. DSCHOINT VENTSCHR films take a critical, dynamic and often humorous look at the contemporary world and its history.

Since 1994 DSCHOINT VENTSCHR has produced more than 50 documentaries and feature films, mostly in international co-production with Germany, France, Austria, England and Canada (among others) as with renowend television companies such as Arte, 3Sat, WDR, ZDF, SWR, RTBF and SF DRS.

DSCHOINT VENTSCHR began in 1986 as an artists' collective which grew out of the politically-conscious video movement of the 80s. In 1994, the company was restructured, and Samir and Werner Schweizer took over as producers while remaining committed filmmakers. Today Dschoint Ventschr is a public limited company.

Besides producing new films by Samir and Schweizer and other established directors, Dschoint Ventschr has demonstrated a commitment to producing works by young and first-time filmmakers, which has earned the company the reputation of a "talent factory" within the independent filmmaking scene in Switzerland.

Many of these films have won multiple awards. Prizewinners include: the feature films LITTLE GIRL BLUE by Anna Luif, STRÄHL by Manuel Flurin Hendry, HONEY AND ASHES by Nadia Fares and STOWAWAYS by Wadimoff/Chouinard; the feature documentaries FORGET BAGHDAD and BABYLON 2 by Samir, NOEL FIELD - THE FICTITIOUS SPY and VON WERRA by Werner Schweizer and DO IT by Sabine Gisiger and Marcel Zwingli; TV documentary TARIFA TRAFFIC by Joakim Demmer; and the short dramas PASTRY, PAIN & POLITICS by Stina Werenfels, BABAMI HIRSIZLAR CALDI (The Stolen Father) by Esen Isik, SUMMERTIME by Anna Luif and EXIT von Benjamin Kempf.

In 1997 Samir and Schweizer received a special award from the city of Zurich in recognition of their work as producers.

DSCHOINT VENTSCHR - alongside the writer-directors Samir and Werner Schweizer - consists of Karin Koch and Susann Rüdlinger (executive producers), Remo Brauchi (sales and international distribution), Frank Steffen (back office and controlling), Claudia Eichholzer (line producer), Tunje Berns (production assistant) and Tami Berkovitz (production assistant).
