Namir ABDEL MESSEEH is a film director, screenwriter and producer.

Born in Egypt in 1974, he grew up in France where he still lives. After graduating with an MA in cinema studies from the University of Paris VII he went on to study directing at the French national film school Fémis. In addition to "You, Waguih" (2006), he also made the short film "Quelque chose de mal" (2005) and THE VIRGIN, THE COPTS AND ME (2012).

Namir Abdel Messeh is an acclaimed filmmaker with a history of exploring intimate subjects. After directing several short films, he gained widespread recognition for his feature film, La Vierge, les Coptes et moi (The Virgin, the Copts and I), which humorously delves into his relationship with his native Egypt and Coptic family. The film was a major success, selected for numerous festivals, including Cannes, Berlin, and CPH:DOX, and won prestigious awards like the Tanit d'Argent at the Carthage JCC and Best Documentary at the Doha Festival. His new film, Life After Siham (2024 CineGouna Alumni) that premiered at 2025 Cannes (ACID selection), is his highly anticipated second feature.

Geboren 1974 in Ägypten. Wuchs in Frankreich auf, wo er bis heute lebt. Er schloss sein Studium an der Universität Paris VII mit einem Master in Film ab und studierte anschließend Regie an der Fémis, der nationalen Filmschule Frankreichs.
