Through the destiny of a woman, the director's grandmother, this film tells the story of a family that lived through the wealth and sumptuous privileges of colonialism before having to face the nationalist claims of Mozambique. It is the birth of a nation, from the last days of Portuguese colonialism, through the struggle for independence, to the tragedies and suffering of the civil war. A story that leads to the first democratic elections the country has ever seen.
